At the end of 2018, Kazakhstan ranks 71st in the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index (LPI), ahead of Russia (75), Uzbekistan (99), Belarus (103), Kyrgyzstan (108), Georgia (119), Turkmenistan (126) and Tajikistan (134). By 2025, Kazakhstan intends to enter the top 40 countries in terms of trade logistics, according to the LPI.
In 2019, the Government took a number of measures to develop the transport industry of Kazakhstan. The Action Plan for improving the logistics system of Kazakhstan in terms of indicators (LPI) for 2019-2020 was approved and the State Infrastructure Development Program «Nurly Zhol» for 2020-2025 was adopted, which provides development of an efficient transit, export and logistics infrastructure, attraction of «Big transit».
